Introduction

Thank you for your interest in our products! We want to provide you with our best products promptly in the most economical way. These terms indicate when and how we will ship products to you and when you may return items.  Due to the differences in products and delivery, different terms apply to our community shares; see those terms if you have questions about our CSA.

Shipping

Free shipping and other rates. We offer free shipping for orders over $50 in USPS shipping zones 0 to 3 (within approximately 400 miles of northeastern Wisconsin) and for orders over $75 in most other regions.  You pay less for our products because we do not need to raise all our prices to cover free shipping for smaller orders, and you can take advantage of shipping rates that reflect the actual shipping costs to you.

We offer rate shipping by zone, where the rates increase by weight and by distance from our location to the delivery location. Due to the rates, it is generally more economical to order multiple products at the same time.

Shipping weights are calculated based on the shipped package — including the product, its container, and all packing materials. For example, 12 ounces of honey will weigh about 2 pounds shipped.

Our shipping charges are set to cover our shipping costs based on packaging and what we pay the shipping service.

Bulk orders. If you’d like to purchase many of the same product, please contact us first!  If you are ordering large quantities same item, we are happy to offer a discount.  We also want to be sure we can fill your order.

Carrier.  We use the US Postal Service (Priority Mail) for shipping the vast majority of our orders, but we may use another service at our option. Generally, it takes three to seven days for an order to be delivered to you after it is picked up by the shipper. The greater the distance between our location in Wisconsin and your destination, the longer it takes to arrive. Shipping times also vary through the year due to factors outside our control. We have no control over the packages once they are picked up, and we cannot make promises regarding delivery times.

We are not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen items once they have been picked up by the shipper.

We generally pack and ship orders within three business days. We are a small operation, however, and we may occasionally take a few additional days if we are backed up. You will receive a confirmation by e-mail when your order has shipped.

Returns

We sell natural, perishable products that will vary from item to item and harvest to harvest. In general, we do not accept returns.

Defective products. We do guarantee all of our products to be free from defects. If you think a product is defective, please contact us within three calendar days of delivery of the package, and we will be happy to assist you.

After you contact us, we will usually require you to ship the product back to us, postage prepaid by you for a tracked shipping service. For unopened and unused products that we determine to be defective, we will refund the purchase price. For opened products, we will refund the purchase price only if we note an obvious defect in the product. All shipping costs are non-refundable. We will not return any of these products to you. Please contact us first! If you don’t, we won’t be able to offer any refund.

Damaged products. If you believe your order was damaged in shipping, please contact us within three calendar days of delivery of the package, and we will be happy to assist you. We will ask you to provide photographs of the box as it arrived, of all original packaging, and of the items inside. Do not discard any of this material. In most cases, we will only replace damaged items. We will file a damage claim with the shipper.

Special Notes

Honey. Our honey is a raw, natural product that will vary in color, density, and texture. Crystallized honey is not a defect!

Please note that all pure honey will crystallize; this is not a defect or spoilage. (In fact, this is your guarantee that you have pure, unprocessed honey.) If your honey is crystallized, put it in a pan of warm water (about 100°F).  In a few minutes, it will return to a liquid state.  Do not microwave the honey!

Crystallization occurs fastest between 52°F and 59°F. Storing your honey at room temperature (or freezing it) will slow the crystallization process. The National Honey Board suggests that most honey, if kept out of the sun, at room temperature, and in an air-tight container, can be expected to last two years. In excellent conditions, it may last much longer (if you don’t finish it first!).

Lavender. Lavender is a natural product. It may drop buds, leaves, or petals. These are not defects.

Community Shares / CSA. Due to the differences in products and delivery, there are different terms for community shares.

All products. Our products are natural and perishable if not handled appropriately. Variation in color, flavor, or scent from item to item is not a defect.

These terms form part of our Terms of Use. By placing an order with us, you are agreeing to all Terms of Use, including this Shipping and Returns Policy.

Availability

We sell our products at places other than our website, which means that on rare occasions, the inventory levels noted on the website will be inaccurate.

If we cannot fulfill an order due to stock shortages, we will contact promptly you with the e-mail you provided to us at the time of order. You will have the option to cancel your entire order (and receive a full refund) or a refund for only the unfulfilled portion of your order. If we do not hear from you within three calendar days of our e-mail, we will promptly refund payment for the unfulfilled portion of your order and ship the balance to you. Please see our Terms of Use for other situations.
